This program is aimed at the following workers:
Have skills, education, and work experience that contribute to the economy of a particular state or territory wants to live in that state and be a permanent resident of Canada. Understanding Application Options
How to apply depends on the state nominee program stream you are applying for. You may need to apply on paper or online through Express Entry. As part of the procedure, you will need to undergo a medical examination and receive a police check (certificate). Everyone must undergo these checks, no matter where they want to live in Canada.
Paper-based procedure
Apply for a state or territory recommendation as part of the non-express entry stream. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the designated state. Once nominated, submit a paper-based application for permanent residence to the Canadian Department of Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship.
You will need to undergo a medical examination and receive a police check (certificate). Everyone must undergo these checks, no matter where they want to live in Canada. The processing time of the application is longer than for express entry.
Express Entry Procedure
There are two ways to apply using the Online Express Entry Procedure.
Contact the state or territory to apply for a nomination as part of the Express Entry Stream. If states or territories agree to nominate you, create an express entry profile or update the profile if you already have one and you indicate that was nominated. Create an Express Entry profile to view the states and territories of interest. If a state or territory sends a “Notice of Interest” to your account, please contact the professional agency helping you directly. You sign up for their Express Entry Stream:
If you are nominated, the state will provide it to you through your account, and you will accept it electronically.
Either Method: Applicants must meet state or territory eligibility requirements. They must then submit an Express Entry profile to prove that it meets the minimum Express Entry criteria. This includes the immigration program qualifications it covers.

Standards vary by state and territory and are subject to change without notice. The Alberta PNP is one of Canada’s simplest state nomination programs, nominated for Canadian PR and then for PR itself. AINP’s Express Entry Stream invites applicants with a CRS score of only 300 CRS points.
